The Aberdeen Gun Club is affiliated with the Amateur Trapshooting Association. The club holds registered trap shoots during the summer, including marathons and large target registrations. It has hosted the SD Northern Zone Shoot, South Dakota State Shoot, and ATA Central Zone Shoot. You can visit the club for a free public trap shoot on Sunday morning or join the ATA Trap Shoot on Thursday afternoon. This shooting club also hosts youth leagues and other outdoor activities.
The shooting range is home to one of the best outdoor shooting ranges in Northern Virginia. There are classes to teach you the basics of using firearms, as well as advanced tactical techniques for shotguns and pistols. The club also offers simulation training, which simulates a force-on-force scenario. Members can practice using wax ammunition, which is less dangerous than real live ammunition. You can also rent or purchase ear protection and eye protection while practicing your shooting skills.
The POA has six covered shooting benches and a pistol range with 29 stations. Shooting at moving targets is prohibited. Only members of the club may use the rifle and pistol ranges. Each member must sign a liability release and agreement before they can use the facilities. You will also need to bring your own firearm and the ammunition necessary for your shooting. It’s not unusual for members of the club to host their own events, so it’s important to find a shooting club that caters to their membership.
